*Product update*

Version 1.8.5 brings the Mac app closer to the web with a redesigned sidebar, a more dependable startup, a calmer Assistant and new accent controls.

Esment for Mac 1.8.5 is a focused polish release. It brings the Mac app closer to the web experience, while making the first moments after launch and the small details of daily use feel more dependable.

## What is new

- A redesigned sidebar brings clearer groups, larger rows, solid icons and a real footer, with Appearance following the setting you chose.
- A new startup loader reliably takes you to the dashboard, with a lighter frosted treatment and fewer distracting transitions.
- The Assistant is now at web level: provider cards, model pickers, a microphone picker and local Whisper dictation are easier to find and use.
- Blue and Mono accent modes now carry through buttons, charts and other controls. Provider logos, popovers and dropdowns have also been made more consistent.
- The memory graph opens more calmly, without the previous pause, and calendar and hover interactions have been tidied up.

## A universal update

Version 1.8.5 is a universal build for both Apple Silicon and Intel Macs. If you already have Esment installed, the update arrives through the app. You can also download the latest version from the website.
