# Smarter summaries of what your assistants know

*Product update*

Esment writes short summaries of the people, projects and topics in your memory. They now update only when there is something new to say, and they read the same on every device.

Besides the memories you save, Esment keeps a short summary for the people, projects and topics that come up most often. Those summaries are written automatically from what your assistants have learned, and until now they were not always as tidy as they should be. Today we have improved how they are kept up to date.

## What is better

- Summaries are rewritten only when there is real news to add, not each time your memory syncs. Your overview stays steady, and the wording changes when the facts do.
- Each person, project or topic keeps a single current summary. Older versions no longer pile up next to it.
- Summaries behave the same whether your memory lives on your Mac or in the cloud, so you no longer see different copies on different devices.
- Summaries are clearly labeled "Auto summary" in your memories list, so you can tell at a glance what Esment wrote and what you saved yourself.

## Why it matters

A summary is only useful if you can trust it is current and that there is just one of them. These changes keep your overview accurate, and they keep your memory easier to read and easier to check.
